The transmission is a six speed automated manual transmission that incorporates hydraulically controlled clutches and a gear change assembly that enables it to be driven in a similar way to an automatic gearbox.
The system utilises one clutch for the odd-numbered gears (1st, 3rd, and 5th) will the other is for even-numbered gears (2nd, 4th, and 6th) allowing for the desired gear to be instantly available, similar to other dual-clutch transmissions.
Paddle shifters located behind the steering wheel allow for manual gear changes if needed and the gear ratios are adjusted to be slightly different as well.
Output from the 1.6-litre DDiS engine is unchanged at 118hp and 320Nm of torque but the new gearbox provides faster gear changes than a manual one allowing for early torque availability at just 1,750 rpm.
However, the new gearbox adds 30kg of weight and see fuel consumption figures fall down to 3.75 l/100km.
