Tokyo 2015: Toyota Auto Body Pours Luxury Into A Hiace Van To Rival A Rolls Royce

Take two ingredients of unlikely union and mix them together, cost be damned. When those steps are taken to the auto industry, things can get interesting.

Yesterday, we showed you a very special Toyota Alphard that took inspiration from a yacht that even lets you retract its roof to allow you take in the calming sea breeze (assuming you’re on a picturesque coastal route and not in a smoggy traffic jam).

Also created by Toyota Auto Body, manufacturing subsidiary of the Toyota Motor Corporation, one that specializes in body engineering, for better or worse, is this:

We’re showing you a lavished-up Toyota Hiace called the Hiace Platinum Lounge  – perfect for when stepping out of your private jet and back into luxury again. Only with this Hiace, you’ll be able to make your appearance and exit smoothly without the undue attention.

It features a white on black interior with dark wood and light leather with ample space for four lounge occupants, a chilled storage compartment for wine and other beverages and a suite of audio and visual entertainment options built in.

Why make yourself a moving target with a flash Bentley or Rolls Royce when you can get the same comfort, more room and extra privacy with this? Come on, it’s a no brainer.

There's just something about cars. It's a conveyance, it's a liability, it's a tool; but it can also be a source of joy, pride, inspiration and passion. It's much like clothes versus fashion. And like the latter, the pursuit of perfection never ends.
