Tokyo 2017: Mitsubishi e-Evolution Concept – The Evo Is Now A Coupe-SUV

The upcoming 2017 Tokyo Motor Show will play host to the introduction of the e-Evolution concept – a Coupe-SUV packed with the company’s latest in Artificial Intelligence (AI), electric drivetrain and all-wheel drive technology.

The concept is said to be “beacon” of the company’s renewed ambition and ushers in a new era of long-term growth and sustainable development for the company. Not to mention, the return of the 'Evolution' badge, synonymous with the company’s high-performance products of the past.

Mitsubishi Motors’ newfound enthusiasm comes as the broader Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance revealed their ‘Alliance 2022’ plan which strengthens cooperation and accelerates the use of common platforms, powertrains, and new technologies.

Under the six-year plan, the alliance plans a major expansion in shared electric vehicle technologies, alongside the development and deployment of advanced autonomous drive systems, vehicle connectivity and new mobility services.

The plan is believed to amount to EUR10 Billion by 2022, with nine-million units based on four common platforms. The plan will also extend the use of common powertrains to 75 percent of total sales.
