To keep Volvo’s popular 1 Series and A-Class rival fresh-looking, the 2017 Model Year V40 and V40 Cross Country receives an updated fascia that incorporates design elements trickled down from the recently-introduced 90 series models – XC90, S90, and V90.
The most notable design feature is none other than the distinctive ‘Thor’s Hammer’ front lighting signature that will be the call-card of the upcoming generation of Volvos. In between them, a new grille mesh holds a bolder, more visually striking interpretation of Volvo’s Iron Mark symbol.
“The V40 is the best-selling Volvo model in Europe and the second-most popular Volvo model globally, making it a very important car for the company. With the updates for model year 2017 we make this already very successful model even more attractive to customers in the segment,” said Björn Annwall, Senior Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Customer Service at Volvo Car Group.
Besides its visual appearance, the V40 also receives a range of interior and trim updates that include a new selection of colours, wheels, and materials including a new upholstery called City Weave, taken from the Volvo Concept Estate.
Volvo has made no mention of any powertrain amendments beyond refining the base D2 diesel variant with manual transmission to emit just 89 g/km of carbon dioxide.
