Waze Goes Official On Android Auto

Good news for Waze users, as the popular navigation application can now be officially used with Android Auto. Just last month, selected users of Waze was selected as beta users for the app, enabling them to run Waze on their head unit.

In the current Waze update (4.27.0.1), users just need to connect their phones to an Android Auto-compatible head unit and launch Waze via the navigation tab. Within the Android Auto interface, Waze users can do what they are usually able to do within the Waze app, including searching for location report traffic condition, police activity, road condition and speed cameras.

We tested Waze on a JVC KW-V930BW head unit with Android Auto and it worked without a hitch. We reckon that Waze should run just fine on any Android Auto-compatible car, including the 2016 Honda Civic, Honda Accord and newly-launched 2017 Honda CR-V. Ford owners with the SYNC3 infotainment system should be able to benefit from this update as well. Other Android Auto-compatible cars include the 2017 Hyundai Elantra and Chevrolet Colorado facelift.

Apart from Waze, Android Auto users can also utilize Google Maps for their in-car navigation needs.
