World Premiere BMW Concept Teased, Potential Z4 Successor?

BMW will be unveiling two concept models at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on 17th August. The first is the BMW Concept 8 Series and the second one is called the World Premiere BMW Concept, could be the successor to the BMW Z4, as seen in the teaser image above. 

The BMW 8 Series nameplate was dropped from the company's lineup for the past 18 years, though the BMW Concept 8 Series is expected to change just that. The new BMW 8 Series Coupe is planned for a debut in 2018.

Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG Harald Krüger said, “The forthcoming BMW 8 Series Coupe will demonstrate that razor-sharp dynamics and modern luxury can go hand-in-hand. This will be the next model in the expansion of our luxury-car offering and will raise the benchmark for coupes in the segment. In the process, we will strengthen our claim to leadership in the luxury class.”

As for the second concept vehicle, BMW only mentioned that the new model is expected to go on sale next year. While the company remained tight lipped with regards to details of the World Premiere BMW Concept, we believe that it could be an early preview of the BMW Z4's successor. The next generation BMW Z4 is currently under development with Toyota, as the latter is rumoured to revive the Supra nameplate.
