Since owning this car 5 years ago (new register japan recond), overall I've been satisfied with the car but sometime I think for japan car with premium price (at least in Malaysia), the interior design/quality and convenient features only average, or even worst than cars in the same league and age. For example, the model i got don’t have reverse sensor or even reverse camera, which is not acceptable for car in millennium era. Performance and safety on the other hand are very good. For performance side, 295hp stock engine that come from factory was already responsive and powerful, able to beat almost anything that moves except heavily modified cars and supercars of course. With a little bolt on upgrade and retune (some refers as stage 1), the horsepower jump up to 350hp without touching engine internal and turbo. I like to maintain the car at this stage as daily drive and for reliability. The 6 speed automated dual clutch gearbox (or in Mitsubishi’s jargon, it is called SST). The transmission shifts very fast and able to handle increased power without any problem, the shift and power delivery are very good and sharp, especially in super-sport mode. On safety side, factory 4 pots brembo in front and 2 pots at rear with large rotor are good in stopping power. S-AWC is the Mitsubishi’s all wheel drive and traction system ensure the power is delivered to all 4 wheels and able to varies the power ratio from left to right as well as from front to rear. This make the car very stable during high speed cornering, during pouring rain and in low traction situation. The drawback of having full time AWD is the car feels heavy, have poor fuel consumption and occasionally jerking and clunking from the system. Talking about fuel consumption, I always bear in mind that this car is not a consumer level car that have good fuel mileage. When spirited driving or town driving, the FC can go as low as 4km/l while cruising in highway 110kmh I only managed to get 10km/l max. This is expected from performance turbo car, the turbo that meant for power, not for good FC. Exteriorly, this car is quite eye catching with nothing to complaint about. The wide body, big spoiler, bonnet vents and several other features well differentiate it with normal lancer or inspira, at least in the eyes of petrolhead. Finally, the overall ownership experience is fun and I plan to keep this car as long as I can because owning the last generation of legendary sport sedan, it is something to proud of. Less

Each time my friend sit in my car, they would asked me why I chose Lancer instead of Mazda 3 or Civic of the same price range. In fact, there has always been a perception that Toyota or Honda would fetch a better second hand value and has more demand. I wouldnt deny the fact of that, but i chose my car based on my own experience and not by what other people think. I have been driving this car for 10 years now since 2010.. Except for regular scheduled maintenance, this car doesnt give me any major issue. I personally love the "evo" like exterior without the price tag of Evo. The sporty exterior design and its interior finishing with Napa Leather seat is one of the main reason I chose this car over others which I test drove. I was right, and I have no regret in my decision. Given the chance to change car again, I have no hesitation to choose Lancer again; but Mitsubishi has stopped selling that in Malaysia. Less

7 years drive still feel like a new car

12 yrs ownership with high reliability and no major problem. Other wear and tear are normal but car is still solid with little or no rattling even NVH needs improvement. Engine and gearbox are solid

Engine and gearbox are solid with periodic maintenance. Starter and compressor has been service incl 2 full sets of shock absorbers and brake pads. Mileage now more than 280k km Less
