More More »I have owned multiple cars throughout my life although continental cars have attracted me the most. In today's day & age, many cars no longer have the pedigree origins of being manufactured in a single country/region - my last 2013 Ford Focus Titanium, despite being an American, had mostly been engineered in Germany. One car manufacturer still stands firm to it's roots and it is Mercedes - I purchased the C180, W205 variant back in December 2016 and I must say, has been the best and most pleasant purchases I've ever made. First of all, the car has been doing exceptionally well aside from minor manufacturing issues such as noisy bushes and wind noises which were promptly replaced at no extra cost under Mercedes 4-year warranty period. Just be honest with the Service Advisor when asked on your own experience & not to reuse others experience to get it done, as it could already be addressed in current batches. Aside from those, the last 3 years have been a breeze - no issues whatsoever except for a pair of RFT tyre replacements; made after 31000km of driving. Now to the fun part - the drive. The car is powered by a M274 single turbo mated with a 7G TRONIC Plus transmission. The 1.6 liter engine produces a humble 156hp with 250Nm of torque on a low boost turbo that kicks in at an early 1200RPM. This in turn enables to car to be exceptionally zippy for city driving while doing great justice at local highways, allowing the car to cruise at 100mph at ease (such speeds are not endorsed and are against local regulations). The 7G TRONIC Plus gearbox doesn't overkill the small displacement engine but provides exceptional fuel consumption in both city and town driving. The car easily gives 7. 5l/100km for KL driving under moderate traffic to an astonishing 5.5l/100km (18++km per liter) to JB / Penang, running on the speed limit. I personally went with the Diamond Silver exterior, which is considered a staple colour of Mercedes Benz - literally a metallic silver with a blue hue over it and creates a different shade under every weather. For the interior, I took the White ARTICO faux-leather, in my own opinion, is the most striking yet easiest to maintain - as it's not real leather and can be easily cleaned with proper vinyl cleaning products commercially available. Till date, the seats still show it's luster and does not show any signs of aging whatsoever. The most important aspect of this variant versus other variants, i.e. C200/250/300/350e is it's proven reliability of it's setup - with only the essential electronics and equipments put into it minus the many heavy bodykits and larger tyre profiles of the higher variants, the car isn't costly to maintain. The tyres come in a beautiful 5-spoke 17" rims and of the same size, unlike the larger, staggered profile tyres of the C200 onwards. The C180 has a start-stop function, which I find exceptionally useful, despite it not having the additional yet expensive auxiliary battery (capacitor) that the other variants have - saving you on long term costs. Finally, I found out that this car comes with a regular electro-hydraulic steering wheel and not a fully electric one; while it doesn't give you the auto steering adjustment feature when entering the car, MB has made it to function as close as the electric one, while being much more reliable and cost-effective for the long haul. The drawbacks is that is doesn't have memory for its front seats, so this is an inconvenience if you have multiple drivers using the car. The other drawback is the basic NTG 5 audio system, in which the console doesn't have much (and responsive) software to allow stuff like screen mirroring and touch screen. This however is good in a way as you end up enjoying the drive and comfort pf the car without spending too much time and attention to the console. The resale value of this car is better than it's larger counterparts, particularly here in Malaysia, where reliability and ownership costs play a role in determining it's value. My advice to first time luxury car owners - get a car that isn't niche & hard to maintain, just like this C180 is for me; unless you have the time and money to throw. The car goes at a decent 228K excluding any OTR costs, so expect to spend 235K in total - which os worth every dollar in my opinion. Less

More More »Probably the most stylish car I ever drove, the gearbox is smooth, and i like the way the car handles speed, no wind noise inside the car, best audio system, especially mesmerising speed which can go upto 240 easily, dont have to force the car, it knows to speed up, it's like a breathing machine, where you can feel the car breathing when you accelerate. And the brakes are very confident, you can go how fast you want by putting the burden on the brakes, smooth steering and, the car is heavy where you can feel it while driving, it gives you confident, and the special features like automatic headlights, crash sensors, service notification, it's like a iron mans Jarvis system in the car, yeah it's a old car but you will feel like rich guy when u drive it, I will keep the car till I end up my life. Nobody sells this car, it has everything which modern cars has. mercedes you are sexy as your name. Love you....... Less
