Bought this car for the looks and sportiness and practicality. Arguably the prettiest of the BMW compact cars of the time. Decent performance, very very good handling courtesy of the stock lowered height and wider track compared to the 3-series I get hatchback practicality with the looks of the coupe. I have transported cupboards and shoe racks bought from Ikea just by folding the rear seats. The powered hatch opens wide to swallow bulky cargo. As mentioned, the car handles better than the equivalent 3-series and is pretty much reliable and due to its CBU status, build quality is rock solid. I put in approximately 1,000 kms a week, yes this car is a daily driver and play car and family car all-in-one. 0-100km/h is around 6 secs (it should be faster in a straight line and especially the corners now) courtesy of minor mods: full cold air-intake system, 6-pot 380mm Brembo brake system and Bilstein Adaptive absorbers) Driving on challenging roads, this car has no problem handling tight corners as it already has a very good handling and balanced platform from factory. To date, it’s been a wonderful ownership experience.
