2015 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class CLS 400 Launched In Malaysia, From RM599k

Previewed just last week at an exclusive ‘Meet & Greet’ event with the Mercedes-AMG F1 driversMercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has finally announced prices for its new, 2015 CLS-Class. Available in just one variant that you’ll find in showrooms, the new CLS 400 demands RM598,888.

So what’s new?

POWERTRAIN: Updated to feature a new look and newer tech, the CLS-Class also benefits from a new powertrain. Gone is the 306hp 3.5-litre naturally-aspirated V6, as the new CLS 400 adopts a similar 3.0-litre V6 bi-turbo engine to what’s available in the current E-Class E 400 here, which delivers 333hp and 480Nm of torque.

Transmission is also straight off the E 400, being the 7G-Tronic seven-speed torque converter automatic. Sorry, no 9G-Tronic yet, Malaysia.

DESIGN: Dressed up in an AMG Line exterior package, the CLS 400 gains an AMG-specific front bumper, seven-spoke AMG alloy wheels, chrome front lip, twin trapezoidal exhausts, AMG rear bumper and more.

To the CLS itself, and refreshment is visible via the new MULTIBEAM LED headlamps, revised smoked LED taillights, and a shiny new diamond-grille design like its junior, the CLA-Class.

MULTIBEAM LED: The new headlights on the CLS 400 are a bit more special than they may first appear. Featuring 24 individually-controlled LEDS, each independently controllable from the other, the MULTIBEAM LED headlights are controlled by a camera and a system located just behind the front windshield – sensors make decisions at a rate of 100 times a second to determine the best angle and luminosity of the headlights.

What’s really cool about the headlights are that with each LED being individually controlled, each LED is also dimmable in a total of 255 stages.

INTERIOR DESIGN: The cabin of the CLS 400 is also dressed in an AMG Line Plus package etc. which lines this up to look pretty much like the interior of the E 400 we know. Best of all however, is that there’s a very pretty and new three-spoke steering wheel which features new control buttons on it, as well as a new aesthetic design.

Infotainment is courtesy COMAND Online system, which again, we’ve seen before in the E 400: eight-inch free-standing display screen, rotary control dial on the center console etc.

Premium audio isn’t exempt from the CLS 400, with there being a Harmon Kardon Logic 7® technology arrangement, which delivers a 5.1 multi-channel, 360-degree sound experience. Oh, and let’s not forget the 14 high-performance speakers. All as standard kit.
