2017 Renault Captur CKD Launched In Malaysia; RM109k

Renault’s funky little B-segment crossover, the Captur, is now locally-assembled in Malaysia. Together with the Fluence C-segment sedan, the Captur CKD rolls off the Tan Chong Motor Assemblies plant in Segambut, Kuala Lumpur.

Launched globally in 2013 and introduced in Malaysia in 2015, the locally-assembled Captur is the same as the model we've had before, despite the new facelifted variant that was recently unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. Also worth noting is the fact that Malaysia is the only country to assemble the Captur outside of Spain. 

Benefiting from EEV incentives, the Captur CKD is priced at RM109,000 (on the road, without insurance), down from RM120,669.63 for the CBU model. There is no change in equipment between the CKD and CBU models. The first 100 customers enjoy an early bird rebate of RM11,000, effectively bringing the vehicle's purchase price below the RM100k mark.

Other B-segment models competing with the Captur include the Mazda CX-3 at RM138,373.00 the Honda HR-V from RM102,200.00, and the Ford EcoSport from RM 95,829.79 - all OTR with insurance. 

As before, the Captur CKD is powered by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine rated at 120PS and 190Nm. Drive goes to the front wheels via Renault’s 6-speed EDC dual clutch transmission. Geared towards fuel efficiency, the Captur manages a rated fuel consumption of 5.4 litres/100km in the combined cycle.

The Captur's funky appearance is noteworthy for its dual-tone exterior colour scheme with contrasting paint applied on the body and roof; the Pacific Blue body is contrasted by Ivory-coloured roof, whilst the Arizona Orange and Ivory body colours are contrasted with Diamond Black roofs. A newly-introduced Flame Red body colour is also contrasted with a diamond black roof.

Like all mainstream Renault vehicles, the Captur enjoys a five-year manufacturer warranty with unlimited mileage.
