There can be extreme penalties on imported cars - more so than even Malaysia - which has resulted in a rather interesting direction of development. Peugeot has been one such brand that has had a presence in Thailand on a rather small scale - but with the appointment of a new local partner in the form of Belfort Automobiles (Thailand), there are some aggressive expansion plans on the horizon.Over the next couple of years, Peugeot is looking to introduce five new models to the Thai lineup, with the first two being the 3008 and 5008. Both of these models will be imported from the Naza Automotive Manufacturing plant located in Gurun, Kedah, which is the first manufacturing hub in ASEAN for Groupe PSA. As of now, Peugeot operates in 11 ASEAN countries, with exports to the Philippines and Thailand starting the next few weeks.Belfort Automobiles (Thailand) is a subsidiary of the Master Group Corporation (Asia) Co., Ltd., which is one of the leading automotive retailers and mobility companies in Thailand. With this partnership kicking off, it will properly solidify Peugeot place in Thailand and within the ASEAN region outside of Malaysia. To find the best deals for Peugeot models, click here.
