Earlier, we received spy photos and tentative specifications for all-new 2017 Mazda CX-5 that is being readied for launch in Malaysia. Through our sources, we were able to flesh out details for four out of five variants that Bermaz has planned for our market.
Following from that story, we have just been sent a second set of pictures showing us the yet-to-be-detailed variant - the 2.0-litre 2WD.
For starters, it appears that the base model 2017 Mazda CX-5 could mirror the equipment of the existing CX-5 2.0 GL Mid Spec variant. Power will come from a 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G four-cylinder petrol engine that outputs 155 hp and 200 Nm, mated to a six-speed automatic that delivers power to the front wheels.
We understand that the new CX-5 2.0-litre 2WD Mid Spec could be furnished with the following equipment:
- Projector headlights
- Front fog lights
- 225/65R17 wheels
- Reverse camera
- Fabric upholstery
- Leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel
- Dual-zone auto climate control
- Rear air vents
- Manual adjustable driver seat
- MZD Connect with 7-inch display
- 2 Rear USB charging ports
- Cruise Control
- Auto Wipers
- Auto Headlights
- Mazda G-Vectoring Control (GVC)
- ABS with EBD, DSC, ESS
In addition to the entry-level 2.0-litre 2WD variant, the same source also provided us photos of the 2.2-litre diesel 2WD High Spec model.
In terms of equipment for the 2WD diesel variant, it should mirror that of the 4WD High Spec sibling, which adds these, on top of the 2.5L 2WD variant:
- Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)
- Lane Keep Assist System (LKA)
- Smart City Brake Support (SCBS), Forward and Reverse direction
- Driver Attention Alert (DAA)
Unlike its predecessor, the all-new 2017 Mazda CX-5 will arrive in CKD form, skipping the interim CBU phase. Soul Red Crystal, Deep Crystal Blue, Machine Grey, Snowflake White Pearl, Sonic Silver and Jet Black are expected to be offered as new colour options. Only Arctic White and Meteor Grey are carried over from the older model.
