Spyshot: All-New 2019 Ford Ranger Spotted In Melbourne

The current T6 generation Ford Ranger has been around since 2011, before receiving an update in 2015. Similar to the current Ranger, Ford’s Australia arm is taking charge with development work for the new generation model.

Spotted in Melbourne city centre, this Ford Ranger mule was accompanied by another left-hand drive lightly-camouflaged Ranger. 

While Ford did release a teaser of the upcoming Ranger Raptor for the Thai market, we believe that this mule is not that as the wheels are noticeably different from the ones on the Raptor. 

The Ranger Raptor teaser mentioned a 2018 debut, possibly hinting that the outgoing T6 platform will be given one last hurrah before it gets replaced in 2019.

Exterior aside, the new generation Ford Ranger is expected to drop its current Duratorq turbodiesel engines, replaced by two new engines. First is the EcoBlue 2.0-litre four-cylinder and a 3.0-litre PowerStroke V6, developed in collaboration with Land Rover and PSA Group.

Also noteworthy feature for the new generation Ford Ranger are rear disc brakes, something that is missing from the outgoing model. Interestingly, almost all test mules spotted had rear disc brakes, possibly hinting that the future Ford Ranger lineup could come standard with.
