2026 Honda City facelift debuts in India – How does it compare to the outgoing model?

Honda has officially launched the updated 2026 Honda City facelift in India, introducing refreshed exterior styling, an upgraded infotainment system, additional comfort features, and improved technology for the long-running B-segment sedan.

While the overall silhouette remains familiar, the latest update focuses heavily on enhancing cabin technology and strengthening premium appeal as competition in the segment continues to ramp up.

For context, the City facelift introduced in 2023 represents the outgoing specification in most markets. The newly introduced update builds further on this package with noticeable improvements in design, features, and equipment.

The 2026 Honda City facelift features a sharper front-end design highlighted by Honda’s new Blade-Eye LED lighting signature. It also receives revised matrix mesh bumper detailing, redesigned front bumper air curtains, and updated alloy wheel designs depending on the variant.

Higher variants also gain a connected front light bar treatment, along with new Berlina Black and diamond cut wheel finishes for the top ZX and ZX Plus trims.

Compared to the outgoing specification, which already introduced revised bumpers and RS-inspired styling elements in certain markets, the updated model delivers a more modern and slightly more futuristic appearance, particularly at the front fascia.

The most significant changes are found inside the cabin. The updated Honda City now features a larger 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system for ZX and ZX Plus variants.

However, lower variants continue to use the 8.0-inch display, while only higher trims benefit from the larger screen upgrade. In comparison, the outgoing specification uses an 8.0-inch Display Audio system across the range, regardless of variant.

The digital instrument cluster setup also varies by specification. The updated model continues with the 4.2-inch colour TFT multi-info display, with higher variants receiving a larger 7.0-inch full colour TFT display that improves readability and visual clarity.

The updated model also introduces several new comfort-focused features that were not available in the outgoing specification. Higher variants now include ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, wireless charging, a rear sunshade, rain-sensing wipers, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.

The updated model expands the availability of Honda Sensing across more variants, offering features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist System, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Auto High Beam, Road Departure Mitigation, and Lead Car Departure Notification.

The outgoing specification already offers Honda Sensing in several markets, where it was introduced as standard across the range during the 2023 facelift rollout. However, entry-level variants in some regions still don't have the full suite of advanced driver assistance features.

Mechanically, both the outgoing and updated specifications continue with similar proven powertrain options. Petrol variants use a 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC engine producing 121 PS and 145 Nm of torque, paired with either a CVT automatic or a six-speed manual, depending on market.

Hybrid variants continue with the e:HEV system featuring a 109 PS electric motor producing 253 Nm of torque.

Pricing for the outgoing specification typically ranges from around RM84,900 to RM111,900, depending on variant. The updated specification is currently priced in its launch market from around INR 1.2 million to INR 1.65 million, equivalent to approximately RM67k to RM92k.

It is important to note that Honda City specifications and design direction can vary significantly by market. Even within the same generation, different regions receive different styling packages, feature sets, and equipment levels.

As such, what is seen in one market may not necessarily represent the specification for another market, and should not be taken as a direct preview of local offerings.
