All-New Perodua Myvi Scores 5-Star ASEAN NCAP Rating

Berita Kereta

Now that Perodua has officially launched the all-new Myvi, ASEAN NCAP can reveal the results of its recent crash test for the car. Rather interestingly, the test was conducted at JARI (Japan Automobile Research Institute) instead of our local MIROS PC3 crash lab- the reasoning for this can be speculated, but it doesn't make the test any less valid.

In any case, the results are incredibly favourable. The Myvi tested was the 1.3G variant, which doesn't even pack the full safety package that comes with the 1.5AV model. Despite that, it receives a 5-star rating with a score of 32.71 for Adult Occupant Protection and 43.14 for Child Occupant Protection.

This is the third time a Myvi has been assessed by ASEAN NCAP. The first attempt saw it achieve a 3-star rating, eventually progressing to a 4-star rating- and now a full on 5-star rating thanks to the inclusion of 4 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as standard, and extending the Seatbelt Reminder System to the rear passengers as well.

The report also notes that the optional curtain airbags and autonomous emergency braking (AEB) systems in the higher-spec models are worth considering and makes the Myvi the cheapest car on sale in Malaysia with AEB provided. It's a great step forward for Perodua and a great product for the Malaysian market.
