Chery Malaysia crosses 30,000 sales mark as local presence continues to grow

Chery Malaysia has achieved a key milestone after surpassing 30,000 cumulative vehicle sales in less than three years, highlighting the brand’s rapid expansion since its return to the local market.

By the end of 2025, Chery recorded a total of 30,073 vehicles sold in Malaysia, driven by growing acceptance of its SUV-focused lineup and an increasingly broad range of powertrain options. Industry sales rankings now place Chery, including its Omoda and Jaecoo brands, firmly among the country’s leading automotive players, sitting behind Honda while ahead of Mazda, Nissan, Mitsubishi and BYD.

The brand’s upward trajectory began shortly after its market re-entry in mid 2023, when it delivered 4,501 vehicles within its first six months. Momentum continued through 2024 and into 2025, with 12,930 units delivered last year alone.

Chery’s next phase of expansion in Malaysia will be anchored by its upcoming CKD operations at the Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park in Lembah Beringin, Selangor.

The RM2.2 billion facility, spanning more than 200 acres, is designed to support increased localisation, higher production capacity and job creation within the local automotive sector. The first phase of the industrial park is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026.

Once operational, the plant is set to support future model introductions for Malaysia, including electrified vehicles across the Chery, Omoda and Jaecoo lineups. The move also strengthens Malaysia’s role as a regional base for the brand’s wider Southeast Asian operations.

With sales volumes continuing to climb and local assembly on the horizon, Chery Malaysia appears well-positioned to sustain its growth in an increasingly competitive market.
