As for safety, we have:

  •          6 airbags, ABS, EBD
  •          Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)
  •          Front and rear-view camera
  •          Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)
  •          High Beam Assist (HBA)
  •          Driver Attention Warning (DAW)
  •          Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW)
  •          The Rear Cross-Traffic Collison Warning (RCCW)
  •          Smart Cruise Control
  •          Vehicle Stability Management (VSM)
  •          ESC (Electronic Stability Control)

Under the hood, there are two petrol engine options:

  • Nu 2.0L 4-cylinder NA (147 hp / 179 Nm)
  • Gamma 1.6L turbo, direct injection ( 201 hp / 264 Nm)

While the 2.0-liter engine is coupled with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission, the Veloster Turbo is paired with a standard six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT).

Three driver-selectable modes include Normal, Sport, and Smart, according to changing driver preferences. In addition, the Veloster Turbo model features the Active Sound Design, which enhances intake and exhaust powertrain sound character inside the cabin for a more exciting driving experience.

As for the Veloster N, power comes from a larger 2.0-litre, direct-injected turbocharged powerplant kicking out 275 hp and up to 352 of torque, mated to a close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox with rev-matching.

Another highlight is that all Veloster models come with Torque Vectoring Control (TVC). What this system does is that it utilizes the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) to allow the Veloster to improve dynamic cornering  - using wheel-speed sensors coupled with ESC algorithms to apply precise braking force to the inside front wheel during spirited cornering.

That being said, the new Veloster will begin production in March 2018 in Ulsan, Korea, with U.S. market availability in the second quarter of 2018.

The car is also all set to make its first Hollywood appearance in the upcoming Marvel blockbuster – “Ant-Man and the Wasp” later this year.
