Geneva 2017: Thor’s Little Hammer; the New XC60 Teased on Social Media

Finally, after eight years, Volvo is all set to be unveiling the all-new XC60 SUV at the Geneva Motor Show and just to add a bit of excitement, the brand decided to tease us with an image of the SUV’s front fascia.

Captioned “March 7, 2017”, hinting at the possible Geneva reveal date, the new model can be seen rocking Volvo’s “Thor’s Hammer” headlights similar to the new XC90, S90, as well as the V90.

The headlamps are attached to what looks like a larger, more modern interpretation of the current XC60’s grille at a narrow opening before becoming bigger as they move out toward the shoulders.

Sitting on the brand’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, the new XC60 is expected to be larger than what it was, and come with longer wheelbase as well, just like how its stable mates have outgrown their predecessors.

No technical details were revealed by the Swedish carmaker but our guess is that the new XC60 will feature a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, and maybe even be offered as a plug-in hybrid.

That said, let us wait and see what Volvo has in store for us next week.
