VIDEO: Nissan GT-R's 170km/h Impact With Concrete Poll Leaves Driver Unscathed

Andrey Yeshchenko, a football player for Russia’s national team, slammed his Nissan GT-R nose-first into a concrete pole at over 160 km/h but, unbelievably, walked away basically unhurt from the unrecognizably mangled supercar.

There are crashes, and often they are tragic affairs. But this one is equal parts confusing and, from the pictures, cringe-worthy to Nissan GT-R fans. The traffic camera footage pegs the car travelling at a speed around 170 km/h when the head-on impact occurred.

Surviving a collision like that is one thing, injuries are to be expected. But by the looks of it, all the 31-year old athlete had to contend with was a little disorientation and, possibly, followed by a wave of self-loathing. He just opened the door, go out, and mulled around the wreck. Like we said – unbelievable.

Russian network LifeNews reported that eyewitnesses describe Yeshchenko’s condition after the crash as drunk. Still, it goes to show Nissan GT-Rs are can take a monumental hit in the face like a champ – meaning it looks to be a very safe car indeed.
