The 2013 Mazda CX-9 is the next in line to wear the Japanese car maker's new signature design language named “Kodo–Soul of Motion”, which debut on the Mazda CX-5 and has since found its way onto the all-new Mazda 6. The new bold face is instantly recognisable, featuring the same sleek headlamps and angular grille as the other new Mazdas.

More on the full-size seven-seater when it launches at the Australian International Motor Show in mid-October, including what changes there are at the rear and in the cabin. Any updates are likely minor, and Mazda notes “enhancements in craftsmanship and interior design”. New equipment announced counts a voice-command system and updated audio and navigation systems.

Extra safety features like Forward Obstruction Warning System, Lane Departure Warning System, and High Beam Control System will be introduced. However, the current powertrain comprising a large 3.7-litre V6 MZI engine paired to a six-speed automatic transmission will be carried over, as will be the option of front- and all-wheel drive.
