2018 Ford Fiesta’s Action Packed Teaser Ahead of Geneva Debut

Auto News

The next-generation 2018 Ford Fiesta has made its action-packed debut, in a Youtube video, just days after the car was previewed at press event in Cologne, Germany.

The video starts off with a product presentation for a group of customers, before curiosity gets the better of one attendee, who snags the keys to the car and proceeds to make a run for it.

Unfortunately, her plan hits a bump, after an overzealous Ford engineer catches her, and gives chase on a BMX bicycle – the action heats up as car and bike blaze trails through the Ford facility in this John Frankenheimer styled, action sequence.

Separately, the Fiesta ST was shown for the first time (in Cologne) ahead of its global public debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, the next-generation Fiesta ST is powered by an all-new three-cylinder, 1.5-litre EcoBoost turbocharged engine, which will deliver 200 PS, 290 Nm of torque. Ford claims it will have 0-100 km/h acceleration time in the region of 6.7 seconds.

The third generation of Fiesta ST will be the first Ford Performance model ever powered by a three-cylinder engine, and will be the first Fiesta ST to feature selectable Drive Modes – enabling engine, steering and stability controls to be configured to Normal, Sport and Track.

The Drive Modes will also adjust Fiesta ST’s Electronic Sound Enhancement (ESE) technology and active exhaust noise control valve, to deliver an even more satisfying driving experience.

The new 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine also features Ford’s industry-first, cylinder deactivation system for a three-cylinder engine. Ford anticipates CO2 emissions of 114 g/km for the new car.

The all-new Fiesta S will be offered in both three-door and five-door bodystyles (current generation only offered with a three-door body) and will feature a greater variety of interior trim and personalisation options.

Aesthetically, the Fiesta ST will include the bold mesh grille front fascia and exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels. Ford reports the new Fiesta ST will be available in some markets, starting early 2018.
