2018 Honda Civic Type R Makes ASEAN Debut At Manila

Auto News

During the 2017 Bangkok International Motor Show, Honda Thailand showcased a number of new models, including the all-new 2017 Honda CR-V and the equally new 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback.

There was no mention of the 2018 Honda Civic Type R at all. However, that is no longer the case as Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has showcased the 2017 Honda Civic Type R at the ongoing 2017 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).

This marks the first time that the 2017 Honda Civic Type R is shown in the ASEAN region. The hot hatch from Honda was first shown to the world at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show earlier in March.

To recap, the 2018 Honda Civic Type R is now based on the tenth-generation Civic platform, allowing the new Type R to boast a more rigid body without a weight penalty. Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged VTEC engine that delivers 306hp and 400Nm. Buyers can only choose a six-speed manual for the front-wheel drive CIvic Type R.

Apart from the 2018 Honda Civic Type R, Honda Cars Philippines Inc has also brought out accessorized variants of the Honda HR-V, Honda Civic and Honda BR-V. MIAS also witnessed the debut of the Honda City MIAS Edition, limited to just 8 units.
