All-New Nissan Serena S-Hybrid Open For Booking, Launch In May

Auto News

Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn. Bhd (ETCM) today announced that the fifth-generation Nissan Serena S-Hybrid is now open for booking.

Slated to be launched in May, the new Serena S-Hybrid is powered by the same powertrain package as before - the 2.0L (MR20DD) Twin CVTC engine and the ‘micro hybrid’ system which utilizes the alternator as a torque assist motor (up to 1.9kW of power), paired with a CVT-type gearbox with Adaptive Shift Control (ASC).

Maximum power output is now at 150 PS at 6,000rpm, with a maximum torque of 200 Nm at 4,400 rpm.

According to Nissan, improvements to the engine such as the addition of the new Dual Arm Tensioner (DAT), which reduces power loss while increasing fuel efficiency, have resulted in the best-in-class fuel economy of 14.2 km/L, earning the new Serena S-Hybrid the Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) status.

Unlike Hong Kong and Japan where the Serena is offered as an eight-seater, the Malaysian market will have a more exclusive seven-seater configuration (2-2-3), with the middle row being captain seats.

Maintaining the 4,770 mm length, 1,740 mm width and 1,865 mm height, the Serena is now fitted with 15-inch tyres, versus the outgoing model’s 16-inchers.

  • Intelligent Moving Object Detection (I-MOD)
  • Hands-Free Dual Power Sliding Doors
  • 7 USB Powered Ports

Previewed at the MAI Auto Festival last week, the new Serena S-Hybrid will be available for viewing in selected shopping malls from 3rd April onwards.

At the roadshows, visitors can also download a special augmented reality application (available on Android and IOS) to preview the vehicle in real-time with a digital tour of the All-New NISSAN Serena S-Hybrid.
