E-Class Facelift: Sharper, Sleeker and more technologically advanced

Auto News

The current generation Mercedes Benz E-Class (W213) is three years old, and Mercedes thinks it's about the right time to give consumers a facelift version of the midrange Merc.

Expected to hit European showrooms somewhere in the middle of this year, the facelift E-Class will have seven different plug-in hybrid variants as well as conventional powertrains including a 268hp 2.0-litre and 362hp 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

Recently reviewed by a bunch of journalists, bloggers and YouTubers in Las Vegas, Nevada the mid-range Mercedes will come with Mercedes' futuristic MBUX infotainment system, famous for its 'Hey Mercedes' voice control activation line. Two huge 26cm screens will come as standard in the facelift E-Class, to provide an immersive experience with either the infotainment system or vehicle statistics.

Although it is mostly covered externally, the facelift E-Class looks like it will have more of a distinctive look compared its little brother the C-Class, through a larger grille, more angular headlights and completely new horizontal taillights.

The latest version of Mercedes' Energising Comfort Control will also be available for the new car providing passengers with a network of features that links climate control, music, ambient lighting and fragrances.
