Ford Bids Farewell To The Year Of The Horse In Sideways Fashion

Auto News

Now that we have welcomed the Chinese Year of the Goat/Sheep, we bid farewell to the Year of the Horse. As a grand gesture, Ford wanted to end the year in style, noise, and lots and lots of tyre smoke. What Ford vehicle embodies the horse? It’s none other than the pony car itself, the Ford Mustang and in this celebration of China’s farewell to the Horse year, we get to see one hooned around Ordos city in Inner Mongolia.

The duty of hooning the 5.0-litre Ford Mustang on the empty streets falls on Vaughn Gittin Jr., American professional drifter who competes in the Formula Drift series. Drifts, powerslides, smoke, and tyre shredding, you can find it all in this video.

It certainly is fitting that the Horsemen of Ordos is applicable to both the Mongolian natives and Ford’s own pony car mounted by a professional drifter.

Now then, what about the other horses in the automotive industry? Car makers that feature a horse on their logo include most notably Ferrari and Porsche. As for Lamborghini, that’s still a few years away.
