Geely Teases New GE11 EV – Q1 2019 Debut

Auto News

Geely is on a roll with new models, as the Zhejiang-based company has teased yet another upcoming model. Just over two weeks ago, Geely teased the FY11, an SUV coupe that will be their new flagship mode.

Called the GE11, this new model is Geely’s latest foray into electric vehicles (EVs). The company did offer several EVs in the past, but those models were not designed as an EV from the ground-up, instead developed as an EV at a later stage.

Developed as an EV in mind, the new GE11 will be competing against other EVs, including the China-only Nissan Sylphy EV.

The lone teaser image provided by Geely showcases a possible new design language without the company’s signature expanding cosmos front grille. Instead, the GE11 receives a relatively blank front end with a new silver emblem, a departure from the grey and blue emblem found on other Geely models.

Moving to the side, the Geely GE11 features a fastback design similar to the Borui GE sedan, while the rear end features a pair of slim tail lights. The Geely wording is positioned within the matte chrome strip that connects both tail lights, similar to other recently-introduced models.

Powertrain details are unknown, but Chinese news portals BitAuto and Autohome reported that the Geely GE11 outputs 130 kW, with a top speed of 150 km/h. Other details, such as range and battery capacity aren’t available yet.

The new Geely GE11 is expected to be launched within the first quarter of 2019.
