Mitsubishi Debuts All-New Delica D:5 In Japan

Mitsubishi Motors recently unveiled its new generation Delica D:5, the sixth iteration of the company’s long-standing MPV. The Delica nameplate can trace its roots way back to 1968.

The Mitsubishi Delica was also sold here in Malaysia, though only up till the mid-2000s with the fourth-generation model. The fifth generation Delica was never sold here.

Now in its sixth generation, the all-new Delica D:5 dons the company’s Dynamic Shield front fascia with multi-LED headlights with four high beams and five low beams. The all-new Delica also receives a prominent front grille, similar to the one found on the Xpander.

Power comes from a 2.2-litre turbodiesel that does 170 hp and 392 Nm, paired to a newly-developed 8-speed automatic. Mitsubishi has also utilized the AdBlue to reduce exhaust pollutants. Like the predecessor model, the Delica D:5 can be had with 4WD.

The interior is also all-new, with a large 10.1-inch infotainment display sitting on the top of the dashboard. The air-conditioning controls are located below the large display, surrounded by the drive mode selector and gear lever. As for seating arrangement, the all-new Delica D:5 sits six with ease, as all of the seats are individual-type.

In addition to the regular Delica D:5, Mitsubishi is also offering Japanese customers the option of the Delica D:5 Urban Gear, with more exterior and interior upgrades.
