New 2017 Proton Iriz Set To Debut Later This Month

Auto News

Proton launched the Iriz back in late 2014, offering a total of eight variants for the Malaysian market. The updated Proton Iriz with the Persona's enhancements is expected to debut some time this month.

From what we understand, Proton is finishing up development work on the Iriz minor change (MC), which is expected to receive the same 3 point engine mount set up as the new Persona. The new 3 point engine mount is designed to reduce engine and transmission harshness entering the cabin. On top of that, CVT-equipped Iriz variants will also receive the same TCU software update, mirroring the Persona. Other NVH improvements, from what we gathered, include more soundproof material.

Visually, Proton is likely to introduce a new colour for the Iriz. Updated models can be further differentiated with its new black roof, which we believe will be standard for all variants. Speaking of variants, Proton is said to trim its variants down to just three: 1.3 Standard, 1.3 Executive and 1.6 Executive. The mid-range 1.3 Executive is tipped to receive a push start button. We can further expect some minor changes to the seat upholstery.

Elsewhere, the updated Proton Exora, Preve and Suprima S is expected to arrive later this year, subject to the ongoing foreign strategic partner (FSP) outcome.
