Peugeot Set To Unveil 308 GTI Hot Hatch At Goodwood

Auto News

Peugeot will throw its hat into the larger hot hatchback ring at the Goodwood Festival of Speed which will take place near the end of June by revealing the Peugeot 308 GTI.

[UPDATE] Peugeot have released a new video which previews the new hot hatch which you can watch here:

Entering such an arena, the obvious competition will be Volkswagen’s Golf GTI and the Ford Focus ST. Unfortunately, no details about Peugeot’s upcoming hot hatch has been revealed as of now. However, Autocar reports the most likely engine candidate will be a 1.6-litre THP 270 S&S four-cylinder petrol engine which is taken from a RCZ R. The engine is good for about 270hp with an estimated top speed of 240km/h.

The French car maker had previously revealed a milder 308 GT (seen here) with 205hp on tap last year. With the announcement of the 270hp GTI variant, the hot hatch Pug will join the 208 GTI in the brand’s hot hatch line-up.

Joining the Peugeot 308 GTI on the display stands at Goodwood will be the 308 R HYbrid (pictured here as well), the performance hybrid concept revealed just last month with 500hp and 730Nm of torque.
