Shanghai 2019: Honda X-NV Concept Is Another China-Only Electric HR-V

Auto News

Barely a day after Toyota announced the China-only electric C-HR at the Auto Shanghai 2019, Honda has responded with the world premiere of its contender - the X-NV Concept, a concept model of its upcoming China-exclusive electric vehicle (EV).

Co-developed by Honda and Dongfeng, the X-NV, which will be sold under the Dongfeng Honda brand in China instead of Honda, is a concept version of what will be Dongfeng Honda’s first mass-produced EV model for the Chinese market, which is scheduled to go on sale in the second half of 2019.

From what we can see, it looks quite similar to what Honda did with its other partner in China, GAC Honda, which introduced its own version of a China-only EV model based on the HR-V called the Everus VE-1 last year.

Coming back to the X-NV Concept, Honda says that the model is part of the company’s mid-term vision for electrification in China, which will see the introduction of more than 20 electrified models to the market by 2025.

After the X-NV, Honda said that it will continue introducing more plug-in hybrid models starting from 2020.

More details of the X-NV Concept will be revealed closer to the launch of the production version later this year.
