Volkswagen Golf Mk 8 To Enter Production In Mid-2019

Volkswagen is currently in the midst of making intensive preparations for the next generation Golf Mk 8.

The brand had just organised the "Golf Mk 8 Supplier Summit" yesterday at the Volkswagen Arena in Germany where the Board Members and all of the company’s suppliers met to underscore the importance of the new generation for the brand and for the Wolfsburg plant.

Slated to enter production in mid- 2019, Volkswagen said that the Golf Mk 8 will take Volkswagen into the era of fully connected vehicles with extended autonomous driving functions, equipped with more software on board than ever before.

“It will always be online and its digital cockpit and assistance systems will be the benchmark in terms of connectivity and safety," said Karlheinz Hell, Head of the Compact series group for Volkswagen.

The Wolfsburg plant currently produces more than 2,000 Golf family vehicles per day and is to remain the capital of the popular compact class in the future. 

The Golf is sold in 108 countries and has convinced more than 35 million customers since 1974, and the total investment of the brand in the next generation of the Golf will be about €1.8 billion.

As for Malaysia, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) announced today that the new Golf Mk 7.5 family will make its local debut within the first half of this year.
