Watch As The New Porsche Macan Facelift Tackles South Africa

First introduced in 2014 as a smaller alternative to the Porsche Cayenne, the then-new Macan went on to become one of Porsche’s best-selling models, shifting more than 350,000 units globally.

For the second half of its model life cycle, Porsche will be giving its premium compact crossover a little nip and tuck, including an updated front and rear fascia. From the photos provided by Porsche, it appears that the updated Macan's front end is inspired by the new third-generation Cayenne.

To ensure that the new Porsche Macan is up to the task, the development team took prototypes of the updated Macan to South Africa, where the SUV was subjected to rough asphalt, dusty gravel roads, and hostile mountain passages. The development team also took the Macan prototypes up to a height of 3,400 meters above sea level in Lesotho.

The market launch for the new Macan facelift is expected to happen later this month in China.
