Next-Generation Optima Looks Amazing In Teased Sketches From Kia

Auto News

Kia has released a couple of very nice sketches of the next generation Optima sedan that’s expected to be revealed in its full production-ready form at the 2015 New York Auto Show on April 1st.

Granted, sketches are not the most accurate representation of what a car will look like when it rolls out of the factory, but the central design cues here look to be well developed and ready-for-market. What we can take away from this is that the newer car will likely have more pronounced definition lines along the sides that extend from the front, past the door panel to the rear, as well as the rounder sunken hips, wider wheel arches, and an overall rear section that seems to be more angular and compact.  The rim design is distinctive and while the size in the sketches seem a bit optimistic, Kia could be previewing its general look here too.

We’ll have to wait and see how much this new Optima takes after the Kia SPORTSPACE concept that we saw at the Geneva Motor Show, which previewed the an evolution of the automaker’s most current visual direction. No confirmation about what’s under the hood, but as it will share the same platform as newest Hyundai Sonata, we may see an overlap in powertrain packages as well.
