2017 Honda CR-V Scores 5 Stars Under New ASEAN NCAP Rating

Honda Malaysia has announced that the all-new 2017 CR-V has achieved a 5-star rating in ASEAN NCAP's new rating system, with a score of 88.80 in Adult Occupant Protection
(AOP), Child Occupant Protection (COP) and Safety Assist Technologies (SATs). The rating applies for all variants of the new Honda CR-V.

Under the new ASEAN NCAP rating system, the 2017 Honda CR-V scored 47.25 points for AOP, 22.84 points for COP and 18.71 points for SATs, putting the CR-V as the safest SUV in its segment.

The new ASEAN NCAP rating system now features a Safety Assist (SA) category, which contributes to 25% of the overall rating with a maximum of 18 points. The new Safety Assist (SA) category covers effective braking and avoidance, including ABS and ESC, seat belt reminders for driver, front and rear passengers, Blind Spot Technology for nearside and offside detection and Advanced Safety Assist Technologies, including Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) and Forward Collision Warning System (FCWS). 

Offered on the new Honda CR-V is Honda Sensing and Honda LaneWatch, both of which were assessed under the new protocol. The 2017 Honda CR-V scored 18.71 points for its advanced safety features.

Honda Sensing includes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Low-Speed Follow (LSF), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), and Lane Departure Warning (LDW). Honda Malaysia has tested Honda Sensing extensively on Malaysian roads and conditions, ensuring that it works as advertised for the Malaysian market. Honda Sensing is only available on the most expensive CR-V 1.5 TC-P 2WD variant. 

On top of the Honda Sensing suite of safety equipment, all variants of the 2017 Honda CR-V also comes with six airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Agile Handling Assist (AHA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), ABS, Walk Away Auto Lock and a reverse camera.
