During the world premiere of Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and The Wasp, the Veloster from the film will be dressed as a packaged toy car that has been enlarged and displayed at the red-carpet event. Hyundai will also be sponsoring the premiere live stream that runs on Marvel’s digital platforms.

The live stream will feature two segments hosted by Marvel’s on-air personalities, will explore more of the backstory behind Hyundai’s placement in the movie, as well as fan reaction to what’s happening on the carpet.

Shortly after the movie hits theatres, Hyundai will also air The Ant-Man and The Wasp-inspired ad, titled “Stoplight Standoff” which features a miniaturised version of the Veloster’s on-screen counterpart.

In the ad, two police officers and a Veloster driver exchange in a very awkward standoff at a stoplight, as they each think the other is suggesting a race. Little do they know, a tiny Veloster based on the vehicle featured in the movie is the cause of confusion and is burning rubber between their cars.

Designed collaboratively by Hyundai designers in South Korea and the U.S., the second-generation Veloster retains its signature asymmetrical two-plus-one door configuration and offers an updated interior, powertrain packages, and improved infotainment and connectivity features.

The Veloster is offered with a choice of two engines, a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder (147 hp /179 Nm) and a 1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder with 201 hp and 264 Nm of torque. The 2.0-liter engine is coupled with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission, while the turbocharged variant is paired with a standard six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT).

The most powerful version, the Veloster N, is powered by a 2.0-litre, direct-injected turbocharged powerplant which develops 275 hp and up to 352 Nm of torque, mated to a close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox with rev-matching.

Production of the Veloster started in March 2018 in Ulsan, Korea, with the earliest cars slated to hit U.S. dealerships in the second quarter of 2018.
