Official distributor of Audi cars for Malaysia, PHS Automotive, have announced that our market will receive quite the range of electric vehicles from the Ingolstadt-based automaker.

Announced at an event at Audi Centre Setia Alam, the brand confirmed at 4 variants of the Q8 e-tron and 3 variants of the e-tron GT will be headed to our shores this year. Bookings are already open for both models.

However, the only car physically on hand to enjoy on that evening was the RS e-tron GT, the flagship offering - both technically and in terms of performance - from their premium go-fast Audi Sport division.

With a starting price RM559k to RM643k for the e-tron GT quattro (Dynamic Package optional) and between RM749k and RM769k for the even more rapid RS e-tron GT, these variants seem to handily undercut the equivalent Porsche Taycan with which electric-specific J1 platform and other many technical similarities are shared.

  • e-tron GT quattro - RM559k-RM569k
  • e-tron GT quattro with Dynamic Package - RM633-RM643k
  • RS e-tron GT - RM749k to RM769k

Each e-tron GT variant receives a 93kWh battery (roughly 83kWh usable) that’s rated up to 458km  of range for the standard variant and 447km in its RS guise.

Both are also powered by dual permanently excited synchronous motors, one on each axle. However, while the e-tron GT makes due with 476PS (or 530PS on ‘boost mode’) and 630Nm of torque, the RS e-tron GT delivers 598PS in regular driving, 646PS in boost mode, and up to 830Nm of torque, shaving that 0-100km/h sprint to just 3.3 seconds.

The e-tron GT thanks to its 800V electrical architecture and advanced multi-channel liquid cooling system, can support DC charging up to 270kW while AC charging can be done at up to 22kW, but only if you opt for the Dynamic Package for the GT quattro.

Other notable differences in specification and equipment with the Dynamic Package includes Matrix LED headlights, 21-inch wheels, carbon roof, B&O premium sound system, and an interior finished in Nappa leather and Dinamica combo. Only the RS e-tron GT receives goodies such all-wheel steering and adaptive air suspension.

Due to arrive in larger volume for delivery in mid-2023 fully imported from Germany, each built at Audi’s Neckarsulm plant, the e-tron GT will definitely be a sight to behold on Malaysian roads.
