The all-new 2017 Honda CR-V made its Indonesian debut at yesterday’s opening of the 2017 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS).

Locally assembled in Indonesia, the Indonesian-market CR-V now comes with seven seats, as well as Honda’s latest 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo engine that we’ve already experienced in the Honda Civic. The forced induction engine is paired to a CVT-type automatic transmission driving the front wheels. There are no 4WD variant offered as Indonesia’s tax structure puts a penalty on 4WD vehicles.

The 1.5-litre turbo engine replaces the previous model’s 2.4-litre i-VTEC engine option, with the 2.0-litre i-VTEC naturally aspirated engine continuing its role as the base model’s engine, but this time it’s paired to a CVT.

There are three variants on offer – 2.0-litre, 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo, and 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo Prestige, all paired to a CVT.

All three variants come with roof-mounted air-conditioning vents for rear passengers while the most expensive Prestige variant adds LED headlamps, panaromic sunroof and engine push-start button, as well as side and curtain airbags and electronic stability control (VSA). It also has height adjustable power-operated tailgate.

The improved features come at a price though.

With an additional third row seat and a more sophisticated engine, there is a marginal increase in price. In Indonesia, the CR-V’s starting price is now 5 percent higher than before, starting at IDR 432,000 for the 2.0 i-VTEC before topping out at IDR 508,000 for the 1.5 VTEC Turbo Prestige.

The all-new CR-V is expected to be launched in Malaysia before the year ends.
