Mazda Atenza Renamed To Mazda 6 In Japan

所有资讯

In an effort to streamline model names across markets, Mazda Japan has renamed the Atenza to Mazda 6. This is in-line with the introduction of the all-new 3 in Japan, whereby the model line-up dropped its Axela name and adopted the global naming convention – 3.

Apart from getting a new name, the Mazda 6 in Japan also gets the option of a 2.5-litre turbocharged SkyActiv-G powerplant, similar to other markets such as in North America and Australia. The turbocharged SkyActiv-G puts out 228 hp and 420 Nm to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic.

The turbocharged SkyActiv-G powerplant is only available on the range-topping 25T S Package variant of the 6. Other goodies on this variant include larger brakes (16 inches vs 17 inches) and a lower final gear ratio.

Priced at 4,239,000 Yen, the turbocharged Mazda 6 is the most expensive variant in Mazda’s line-up in Japan.
