Revealed as a prototype last month at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, the new Honda Insight, which has been reborn as a handsome Sedan will enter production and reach the first batch of owners in America later this year.

However, unlike the previous Insight, Honda has announced that the new one will be a left-hand drive only model, which means that there is no chance for it to reach our shores.

Positioned above the Civic in Honda’s lineup, the new Insight will be offered with a highly-efficient 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine, paired to Honda’s two-motor hybrid system.

Honda says that the all-new Insight offers refined driving performance plus high fuel efficiency, capable of returning at least 21 km/L.

It is said that Honda Sensing will also fitted as standard across the range, which includes Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow and new Traffic Sign Recognition.

That being said, the release of the Insight later this year marks the next step in Honda’s plans to make two-thirds of its global vehicle sales electrified models by 2030.
