UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) continued its strong sales momentum in 2026, recording more than 7,300 vehicle sales in June (including Lexus).

This brought the company's Q2 2026 sales tally to over 20,800 units, while year-to-date (YTD) sales surpassed 36,200 units (figures also including Lexus). This marks a 35% improvement over Q1 2026, when UMWT recorded total sales of 15,370 units.

UMWT attributed the stronger Q2 performance to continued customer confidence in Toyota's model line-up, supported by an expanding range of electrified vehicles and new model introductions, to name a few.

These include the Toyota bZ4X BEV, Urban Cruiser BEV and Hilux BEV, giving customers more choices across different vehicle segments.

Beyond its BEV expansion, the 2026 Yaris Cross also appears to have received a positive early response, with UMWT recording 2,298 bookings within two weeks of its launch.

Looking back, UMWT achieved 102,417 sales in 2025, marking the fourth consecutive year that Toyota Malaysia surpassed the 100,000-unit milestone.

With an expanded line-up covering conventional ICE models, HEVs and BEVs, plus a strong first half of 2026, the question now is whether they can carry that momentum towards another 100k sales milestone in 2026.
