2021 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid - Now Open For Booking - RM137k

UMW Toyota just last night announced the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid is now available for booking, coming in at RM137,000. 

Engine specifications are still unclear at this point but from what we can gather it should come with the 2ZR-FXE 1.8-litre Atkinson cycle four-cylinder petrol engine (an engine that is shared with the Prius and the Corolla Altis Hybrid). Output is a combined 122 PS (98 PS/ 142 Nm of torque from the petrol engine and 72 PS/ 163 Nm from the electric motor). 

The hybrid system on the 2021 Toyota Corolla Cross will come with an 8-year hybrid warranty covering the hybrid battery, inverter and power management control ECU. This is extendable for a further 2-years. 

The hybrid battery has been relocated under the rear seats to provide for a lower centre of gravity as well as 440 litres of boot space bringing it up to par with the non-hybrid variants. 

Drive is sent to the front wheels via an e-CVT with three drive modes to choose from, namely Eco, Sport and EV for zero-emissions driving. 

From what we can see of the list of equipment, the Corolla Cross Hybrid will include a 7-inch Multi-Information Display, larger than the 4.4-inch currently available on the Corolla Cross 1.8G and 1.8V. 

The 2021 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid will also come with the Toyota Safety Sense advanced suite of safety features including the Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). Another convenience feature will be the 3D Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) that will give drivers a 360-degree view of their vehicle for ease of manoeuvring. The Vehicle Telematics System (VTS) will come as standard on the 2021 Toyota Corolla Cross. 

Colour options available for the 2021 Toyota Corolla Cross are:

• Celestite Grey Metallic
• Red Mica Metallic
• Nebula Blue Metallic
• Silver Metallic
• Platinum White Pearl (at an additional RM800)

If you zoom in to the bottom of the price list above, you should see the words Corolla Cross CKD in fine print meaning the 2021 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid will also enjoy the full SST exemption which has now been extended a further six months to June 30, 2022.
