2015 Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 Spyder Makes its Malaysian Preview

Just two months after its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Lamborghini’s new Huracán LP610-4 Spyder has made its second stop on its preview tour of Asia in Malaysia.

Just like the standard Huracán supercar, the Huracán Spyder comes with the same 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 engine, which cranks out 610hp and 560Nm of torque, and coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Power is distributed through the Huracán’s electronically all-wheel drive system which has a base front/rear torque distribution of 30:70 with the capability of sending up to 100 per cent of the torque to the rear wheels.

The roof mechanism on the Huracán Spyder can be folded in 17 seconds at speeds of up to 50km/h, and can be specified in three different colours. With the use of the Huracán’s aluminium and carbon-fibre hybrid structure the Huracán Spyder boasts a 40 per cent higher torsional rigidity than its predecessor, the Gallardo Spyder. That being said, the Huracán Spyder weighs in at 1,542kg dry, 120kg more than the normal Huracán.

This gives the Huracán Spyder a 0 to 100km/h time of 3.4 seconds, a 0 to 200km/h time of 10.2 seconds, and a top speed of 324km/h. Compared to the standard fixed top fare, the Spyder is off the pace by 0.2 seconds, 0.3 seconds, and a mere 1km/h, which isn’t far off the standard Huracán’s pace.

The Huracán Spyder also retains the Lamborghini Piattaforma Inerziale system that uses three accelerometers and three gyroscopes to precisely measure the car’s movements on the X, Y, Z acceleration, roll, pitch, and yaw rates. The information from this system is then fed into the car’s stability control, four-wheel drive, dynamic steering, and magneto-rheological suspension.

With production of right-hand drive variants expected to commence in April next year, Huracán Spyders destined for Malaysia will only arrive around April or May. As its specification is yet to be confirmed, JH Italia, the sole authorised dealer for Lamborghini in Malaysia, says that the tentative price for the Huracán Spyder is estimated to be around RM1.35million (before duties).
