Cycling Fans Will Love The Honda Civic Tourer Active Life Concept: Debuts At Frankfurt

Although Honda has created the amazing Project 2&4 concept for the Frankfurt Motor Show, which caters towards the performance-focused enthusiast, the Japanese carmaker hasn’t forgotten about the rest of its diverse fan base and that includes cyclists. Hence, they’ve created this, the Honda Civic Tourer Active Life Concept.

The avid cyclist will enjoy many of the features of this concept that serves to showcase the Tourer’s class leading cargo space and versatility within the C-segment. That includes its 1,668 litre boot space (with the rear seats folded down) and a low loading height.

Capitalising on the impressive boot space, Honda has installed a smart loading rack with the capability of transporting two bicycles, along with a retractable arm which can be extended from the rack, allowing for easy maintenance and repairs.

Speaking of maintenance, the Honda Civic Tourer Active Life Concept comes with a built-in integrated air pump, a large light located on the tailgate, an extended shade area, and a retractable bench to ensure you’re well equipped to keep your bicycle in tip top condition. It also helps that a toolbox, bottle holder, water tank and a front wheel holder which are all integrated within the trunk side lining are available as well.

Other storage options include an aero shape roof box designed to accommodate essential cycling accessories such as shoes and helmets.

To match up to the active lifestyle of Honda’s customers, the concept gains a custom blue paint finish with a lower gun metallic gradation and a silver roofline. There are also new 18-inch alloy wheels and a custom design rear bumper to match.

It’s a similar story inside with blue stitching found on the steering wheel and on the gear shift, along with a sporty black roof lining, seen also on the Civic Sport and Civic Type R. The front seats combine both suede and leather and feature a carbon tape with blue piping that runs along the centre and along the upper outer areas of the seat, continuing into the suede door lining.

Under the hood, the Honda Civic Tourer Active Life Concept comes fitted with a 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine, which recently set a new Guinness World Record for fuel efficiency, covering a distance of 13,498km across 24 EU contiguous countries and returning a fuel consumption figure of just 2.82 litres per 100km.
