The new model, according to Daihatsu, is able to deliver up to 35.2 km/L.The company is offering a total of six trim levels of the new Mira e:S, each variant can be had with the choice of 2WD or 4WD, bringing the total variants to 12. All variants of the new Mira e:S is powered by a 658 cc KF series three-cylinder engine with 49 PS and 57 Nm. The only transmission offered is a CVT-type automatic. If you're wondering if the power output is sufficient for the Mira e:S, keep in mind that the weight of the new model starts from a modest 650 kg. The range-topping Mira e:S G SA III tips the scales at 740 kg. In comparison, the Perodua Axia, in its most basic form, tips the scales at 820 kg. Thanks to its lightweight nature, Daihatsu said that the new Mira e:S is able to deliver up to 35.2 km/L under the JC08 test cycle.Much of the weight saving, which Daihatsu says is up to 35 kg, comes from the new Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA). Other weight saving measures include new interior and exterior parts, which saved another 45 kg. Daihatsu has been liberal with the usage of resin to further reduce weight. The company used resin to produce the front fender, fuel lid, radiator support, tailgate and fuel tank. The resin fuel tank is only applicable for front wheel drive models. On top of that, Daihatsu also used thinner glass to shave some weight.Halogen headlights come as standard fitment, but the Mira e:S G SA III and X SA III come standard with LED headlights. All variants of the new Mira e:S also receive LED taillight, designed to reduce engine load. Daihatsu also revised the handling of the new Mira e:S. The electric power steering and spring rate of the new model have been retuned to deliver better ride comfort. For the Mira e:S G SA III and X SA III, these variants receive specially tuned front dampers by Kayaba. Safety wise, the updated Daihatsu Mira e:S gets Daihatsu's third generation Smart Assist III, with Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning and Automatic High Beam. In addition to that, SAIII variants receive all round parking sensors. Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC) is standard across all variants of the new Mira e:S. Two airbags are standard across the range, though the G SA III variant receives additional side airbags.
