Mercedes-AMG C63 Updated With More Tech

Mercedes-AMG has just pulled the covers off the updated C63 variants, including the sedan, convertible, estate, and coupe.

Starting from the exterior, the updated C63 features the company’s new Panamericana front, while the rear receives a resculpted diffuser. The optional AMG Aerodynamics package for the C63 Coupe adds a more aggressive front splitter, spoiler lip, side skirt inserts, and a more prominent rear diffuser.

Changes are more noticeable inside, as the updated C63 range now features the new AMG steering wrapped in Nappa leather. The highlight of the new steering wheel, apart from its new design, is the new Touch Control buttons. The new buttons can be used to control the instrument cluster and infotainment system by swiping horizontally and vertically.

Also on the new steering wheel is the AMG Dynamics feature, part of the AMG Dynamic Select drive programs. The new AMG Dynamics feature can adjust the C63’s suspension, stability control, and exhaust settings.

Drive modes include:

  • Basic: Assigned to the “Slippery” and “Comfort” drive modes
  • Advanced: Activated in the “Sport” program
  • Pro: Part of the Sport+ program
  • Master: Exclusive to the C63S and hooked up to the Race drive mode. ESP must be switched to ESP Sport or ESP Off to enable Master mode.

The Mercedes-AMG C63S is also exclusively available with the “Individual” drive mode, which allows the driver to adjust their own AMG Dynamics drive mode.

Powering the C63 range is the identical 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with different output figures. In the regular C63, the engine does 476 hp and 650 Nm, while the hotter C63S does 510 hp and 700 Nm.

While the engine remains identical, Mercedes-AMG has fitted the new 9G-Tronic automatic transmission from the E63 into the C63. The boys from Affalterbach have also fitted a rear-axle limited-slip differential to all models as standard.

In case you’re wondering, the intuitive Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment is not available on the updated C63 range.
