Unlike the Megane GT's twin muffler set up, the Megane RS will get a pair of centrally-mounted mufflers. A lone RS emblem can be seen below the right tail light. The company did not say what powerplant will the Megane RS feature, but a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine is likely. Power figures are said to be in the 300 hp region, going exclusively to the front wheels via a six-speed manual, or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, a first for the Megane RS. Considering that the Megane RS once held the record for being the fastest production FWD vehicle to lap the Nordschleife circuit before the Honda Civic Type R dethroned it, it would be logical that Renault would attempt to challenge it.
