Subaru Outback Scores Five Star Award At 2014-2015 Japan New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP)

The Subaru Outback has been awarded the top rank “Five Star Award” at the 2014-2015 Japan New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP) crash safety evaluation tests conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and the National Agency for Automotive Safety and Victim’s Aid (NASVA).

Recently launched in Malaysia, the fully imported from Japan 2015 Subaru Outback sold here is offered in a sole 2.5i-S variant but differs from the Japanese-spec model by leaving out the brand’s EyeSight driver assist system which includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure & Sway Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, And Pre-Collision Throttle Management.

However, you still get an impressive safety package with seven airbags, four-wheel disc brakes, Subaru’s Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system – Electronic Stability Control (ESC), anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) and brake assist (BA), traction control system (TCS) with limited slip device, and an Active Torque Vectoring system.

The Subaru Outback also scored a maximum five-star ANCAP occupant safety rating.

Fuji Heavy Industries Limited is the manufacturer of Subaru automobiles and have also announced that its Legacy, Forester, WRX, and Levorg have won the “Five Star Award” as well in the JNCAP as well (specs may differ from our local model).
