BYD Sime Motors expands retail and aftersales - over 40 showrooms, 25 3S centres, flagship BYD Mansion Macalister

BYD Sime Motors is expanding rapidly to ensure the ownership experience keeps up with demand. As the official distributor of BYD vehicles in Malaysia, the company has been steadily growing its retail and aftersales footprint, making the brand’s EV offerings more accessible to customers nationwide.

The network now comprises more than 40 showrooms across the country, covering key regions from the Klang Valley to the north, south and East Coast. Alongside this retail expansion, the company is also strengthening its service infrastructure. By 2026, BYD Sime Motors aims to operate 34 aftersales touchpoints following the completion of nine additional service centres currently in development.

A key part of the strategy involves extending the brand’s reach beyond major urban centres. In the southern region, new showrooms in Johor’s secondary cities - Muar and Kluang - allow the company to tap into growing demand outside Johor Bahru. Meanwhile on the East Coast, the newly opened Kuala Terengganu outlet complements existing locations in Kuantan and Kota Bharu.

Peninsula Malaysia's northern region has also seen notable growth with new outlets in Sungai Petani and Juru expand their presence in Kedah and Penang, while the Ipoh 3S Centre enhances both sales and aftersales support in Perak. The Ipoh facility is particularly significant as it houses the city’s first dedicated EV charging hub, equipped with 240 kW and 180 kW DC fast chargers.

In the Klang Valley, the BYD Sri Hartamas 3S Centre introduces a different showroom concept. Located within a shopping mall, the facility integrates sales, service and spare parts under one roof, allowing customers to seamlessly incorporate vehicle ownership activities such as servicing or showroom visits into their daily routines.

Beyond sales and service centres, the company has also established 12 Body & Paint facilities nationwide with more planned in the future. The expansion reflects the importance BYD places on providing long-term ownership support and building a comprehensive EV ecosystem in Malaysia.

The investment in infrastructure comes amid strong market performance for the brand. BYD has remained Malaysia’s number one battery electric vehicle (BEV) brand for three consecutive years, reflecting growing consumer confidence in the marque and electric mobility as a whole.

In 2025, the company delivered 14,407 vehicles in Malaysia, marking a 68% increase compared to 2024. The brand reached its first 10,000 local customers within 20 months and secured the next 10,000 in just 13 months. At its current pace, BYD expects to reach 30,000 customers in Malaysia by April 2026.

Looking ahead, the company plans to introduce a new flagship outlet in Penang known as BYD Mansion Macalister. The showroom will incorporate local cultural design elements while maintaining the brand’s global retail identity, creating a unique and premium customer space.

Supporting the growing customer base is a team of 80 EV-certified technicians trained at the BYD Academy in Ara Damansara, alongside a centralised parts warehouse, initiatives aim to minimise downtime and provide owners with greater confidence in the EV ownership experience.

There's just something about cars. It's a conveyance, it's a liability, it's a tool; but it can also be a source of joy, pride, inspiration and passion. It's much like clothes versus fashion. And like the latter, the pursuit of perfection never ends.
