iCaur 03 REEV to launch in Thailand as Jaecoo 6T REEV this June

A recent report from Autolife Thailand has revealed that the Jaecoo 6T REEV will make its debut in the Kingdom by the end of June 2026, bringing a range-extender powertrain to the rugged SUV.

While the model carries Jaecoo branding in Thailand, Malaysian buyers may recognise it as the iCaur 03, which is also available in China as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). To be specific, it's a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV).

The announcement has indeed sparked some interest on our side of the border, as Malaysia already has an established iCaur presence through the iCaur 03 BEV SUV, raising the possibility that the range-extended variant could eventually join the lineup here.

Based on the same boxy SUV platform as the fully-electric Jaecoo J6 and iCaur 03, the REEV swaps the EV-only setup for a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) powertrain.

In this configuration, the petrol engine acts primarily as a generator while propulsion comes from the electric motors, delivering EV-like driving characteristics with significantly greater overall range. The vehicle still accepts plugged-in charging, just like a PHEV.

According to specifications stated in the report, the Jaecoo 6T REEV is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive electric drivetrain.

Combined output is rated at 428 PS and 505 Nm of torque, enabling the SUV to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds.

Energy is supplied by a 33.6-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which delivers up to 160 km of pure electric driving range (NEDC). When combined with the range-extender system, total driving range is claimed to reach up to 801 km (NEDC).

Other notable features include support for DC fast charging at up to 100 kW, as well as vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality with up to 3.3 kW of output.

In Malaysia, the iCaur lineup currently consists of the pure electric iCaur 03 2WD, priced from RM113,800, and the locally assembled iCaur 03 iWD, priced from RM129,880.

While iCaur Malaysia has yet to confirm plans for the model, the Thai launch could offer a glimpse of what may be next for the brand's growing regional lineup.
